4 + 4 Days in Motion - Oct. 3 - 10

18.9.2008

Tickets for the 13th annual international theatre festival go on sale Monday, September 15! Features two plays performed in English.

FESTIVAL PROGRAMME AT ARCHA THEATRE:

3.10 Archa Theatre – 19:30
GOB SQUAD (UK/Germany) – “Gob Squad's Kitchen”

Gob Squad has embarked on an original reconstruction of Andy Warhol’s film Kitchen. The famous experimental British-German group focuses on the hedonistic atmosphere of the film and descends with the father of pop-culture into New York’s underground cinemas where it all began. Gob Squad returns to Prague in an intelligent, provocative and ironic way! (In English with simultaneous Czech translation)

4.10 Archa Theatre – 19:30
GOB SQUAD (UK/Germany) – “Gob Squad's Kitchen”

5.10 Archa Theatre – 19:30
MLADINSKO THEATRE (Slovenia) – “Fragile!”

Playwright Tena Štivičic presents individuals full of longing: Mila, who wants to sing, Marko, who wants to be a comedian, Gayl, who wants to be a visual artist, Tjaš, who wants to get married, and Erik, who just wants to party. They meet in a club in London, where each of them expects to start a better life. An extraordinary combination of brilliant acting and cine-matic tricks, Fragile! directed by Matjaž Pograjc (founder of the renowned dance group Beto-tanc), has won numerous international awards as well as the Grand Prix for the best Slovenian play of the year 2006. (In Slovenian with Czech subtitles)

6.10 Archa Theatre – 19:30
MLADINSKO THEATRE (Slovenia) – “Fragile”

7.10 Archa Theatre – 19:30
CIE MARTINE PISANI (France) - “Hors sujet ou le bel ici”

A stage séance in which six people discover secrets and the dangers of public presentation, the meaning of "being on stage". Their confusion, disorientation and silent declarations, as well as sophisticated sequences of movement in the "non-dance" style discretely mock the daily demands of discipline, creativity, concentration and flair.

8.10 Archa Theatre – 19:30
BERLIN (Belgium) - “Bonanza”

A unique theatre-film documentary that portrays the lives of residents of a desolate town in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. The show was one of the highlights of the main programme at the IETM Festival in Ghent. (In English with Czech subtitles)

9.10 Archa Theatre – 19:30
BERLIN (Belgium) – “Bonanza”

10.10 Archa Theatre – 19:30
AYDIN TEKER (Turkey) – “harS”

The conventional view of the harp as a static two-dimensional instrument and its sculptural beauty is transformed by a dancer, a former harpist, into a new form based on the shape of the body and inventive use of the object. The dialogue between the body and the harp creates a magical symbiosis, as well as unexpected geometrical, sound and space associations.
