The Stimul Festival brings the best alternative music to Prague, headlined by Mogwai

Archa Theatre will host four concerts as part of the Stimul Festival in October and November. Stimul prepared several concerts this autumn of international stars of alternative music. Among them will be Scotland’s Mogwai, the best-known post-rock band in the world. They will play at Archa on November 15th.

Other concerts include the freak-folk Animal Collective and the star of alternative metal Stephen O’Malley with his KTL project. “A unique experience for lovers of electronic music and improvisation will be Kieran Hebden, also known as Four Tet, who will play with legendary drummer Steve Reid, who formerly played with Miles Davis”, said promoter Aleš Stuchlý. Most of the artists will be appearing on the Czech stage for the first time.

“We want the festival to be diverse and to combine legends of the genre with relative unknowns,” said Jan Vávra, the festival director. In addition to lesser-known names from the Polish and Norwegian alternative music scenes, audiences will get the chance to see the German duo Cluster, which in the 70s pioneered the use of synthesizers and electronica. Cluster inspired, among others, Brian Eno in his Berlin work with David Bowie.

Since 2005 the Stimul Festival has been one of a small handful of festivals to regularly bring in real alternative and experimental music to the Czech Republic from abroad. Last year the festival became part of the A2 cultural weekly. This year two concert evenings will be held in co-production with other promoters; Mogwai, in collaboration with Charm Music and Animal Collective together with the Sperm Festival. More information about the festival is available at www.stimul-festival.cz .

Tickets go on sale from September 9th at the Archa Theatre box office and through Ticketpro and Ticketportal.
