Havel's Leaving heads to Seoul; will return to Archa for ten performances in June 2010

Václav Havel's Leaving directed by David Radok is headed to Seoul, South Korea. The production, which was created for the space of the Archa Theatre, is embarking on its first ever foreign appearance.

While the sets and costumes were already shipped to South Korea in the middle of February, the actors and the Archa Theatre's technical team will travel there this Sunday. At the start of April Leaving will be performed in the state-of-the-art cultural institution the LG Arts Center, which with its seating capacity and technical equipment is among the leading arts centres in the world. The role of Hanuš will in Seoul be alternated by Miloslav Maršálek, and the role of Bey will be played by Hana Vagnerová.

Ondřej Hrab, the artistic director of the Archa Theatre, had this to say about the trip:  "I am very pleased that our production has become part of the spring season at the LG Arts Center along with productions such as 11 and 12 by Peter Brook, Uncle Vanya by Lev Dodin and his Small Theatre in St. Petersburg, or the already classic works of contemporary dance Café Müller and The Rite of Spring in Pina Bausch's new choreography. Seeing the words Archa, Havel and Leaving in Korean is itself an aesthetic experience."

The production, which at the start of this year celebrated its 60th performance at Archa, returns to this Prague stage in June 2010. Tickets for the ten summer performances will go on sale early next week.
